No one wants to be in debt and worse, have their debt go into collections, so how can you really write a review on a debt collecting company? Let me tell you... the customer service was amazing! I spoke to a customer service agent and a manager, and both were kind, actively listened, compassionate, and helpful. Their understanding and ability to work with me resulted in a settlement that I am beyond grateful for. Thank you PRA for your kindness, patience, and efforts!

I am on hold as I type this. I have been calling this company for over a month trying to get a hold of them and resolve this issue with my car payments. When I go to send a MoneyGram, Walmart tells me the option to make a payment is now greyed out. I cannot make a payment and cannot get in touch with them. I am trying to get this resolved before my payment is late and they are just not answering!

So I received 3 separate emails all having the same amount owed, with three separate case numbers. I contact Portfolio Recovery Associates LLC and ask them what and how my email was established in their system to even contact me. PRA representative told me she doesn't know and that it's a different department. I request to contact said department and said that she can't connect me. Turns out I have the same name but different DOB and SSN. Which still confuses me as to how they received my personal email and who has stored my information? I contacted them numerous times and they are purely rude and don't care that they infringe on my information to contact me without reason of how they obtained my information. Will contact and leave information on BBB for unprofessionalism and inappropriate gathering of information.

I am in the process of settling a lot of my debt. I am in murky waters, but using Portfolio Recovery's website allowed me to take a breath. I was able to set up payment plans on two accounts. On the third account, they told me I could pay it, but it would be in my best interest to not pay it. I LOVE the honesty of this company. The stress of debt relief was taken away and my payment plans (which saved me 40%) are set in motion.

As weird as this might be to say, they've been the most wonderful collections agency to deal with. I have been paying on the account they collected since 2018, and was able to negotiate the amount down to an affordable amount for me to completely pay off today. Called me stating I owed $575.00 to an orchard bank visa .. which I have no clue about.. scammers.. I called from my other line asked for Alisha Blanchette.. and was told she doesn't work on weekends..I asked to be forwarded to her number.. They said that's impossible..I stated she called me 5 minutes ago.. The man stated it must have been a mistake.. Alisha Blanchette had birth dates and one of our new phone numbers.. First and last names.. we monitor our credit numerous times daily.. We are well into 700.. I call them SCAMMERS!!!

These people are all jerks. They won't remove your number unless you speak to a manager. Not only will they call you if they have the wrong number but not caring about time zones and getting calls at 5 am is one of the rudest calls I have received. And after blocking number after number they will call you on 16 different numbers. To all the lower workers in there totem pole shame on you. And you go home to your family with no care?

I have ZERO stress using portfolio recovery associates. I really appreciate this! I use the website to make changes to payment dates if I need to or to skip one (or more if I'm out of work). It's such a relief to not feel guilty or like I have to plead my case and hash out all my problems or fight with a rude collector. Its so easy to sign in, find your account, make and change payment arrangements even when the offices are closed. Im lucky these guys are handling my debt because not many debt collectors are so user friendly. They contacted me through the mail, offering a settlement lower than the full amount I owed. They have not been annoying with calls at all hours of the day or night. Their website it extremely easy to navigate. I'm happy to have started paying off my account.

My experience with PRA has always been pleasantly positive. They were always willing to work with me and whether I wanted to increase, or needed to decrease or postpone my payments, they always helped me to find the best payment plan for my situation. They may call a lot to reach you but they really are kind people.

To be honest, this company called me several times a day and I refused to answer because, like most of us, we ignore bill collectors. One day I decided to send an email asking if they have a website. They replied back in a timely manner and gave me all the info I needed to look online concerning the debt. I set up a very easy payment plan while visiting the site and have had zero problems with them. The phone calls have stopped as well!

They called my cell number asking for someone. First of all, why are they calling people on a Sunday afternoon and secondly my number is not associated with any outstanding debt.

I just called to pay off a chunk of my credit and had no problems. They even lowered the payment from 1100 to 666 dollars. No problems at all. I would give them 5 stars but they are a collection agency which I despise collection agencies so I'll give them 3 stars. That's top of the mark for me as far as collection agencies go. But they are very respectful.

It sucks being in debt. It sucks avoiding phone calls and ripping up letters because the minimum payment offer is ridiculous every single time... so this company has finally turned it into something manageable. I can choose to slowly chip away at my debt, and the website is so nice and easy to use. I am very pleased, all things considered. User friendly, intuitive service. I was very pleased that upon going on the website, that the information in the agreement letter matched the website. I had previously went to another collections agency website to pay the reduced amount that was in their letter and they wouldn't allow it, so I didn't pay anything and just left . Even though a collection agency isn't something I ever thought I'd be writing a good review about, PRApay, is actually the easiest way to resolve your issues. They let you set up what is easiest for you and you don't feel pressured. I know that this was my error, being in collections, no one's fault but my own. Only 4 start because, well, they are a collection agency lol. Though, payment plans, and a customizable payment plan on their website makes taking care of debt something no longer to be feared. As a business, and how they handled my debt including payment options very much pleased me. I am finally paying of my debt. This will undoubtedly have a positive effect on my credit score!

PRA has greatly improved the payment experience. For me and my age-old debt, they have come a long way in offering alternatively "low" payment options..as low as a $5.00 payment. That, is greatly appreciated and takes some pressures off, to include, not paying mounting interest charges. Everyone at some point has made financial mistakes, and I for one, appreciate the chance to pay what I can, for consistently as I can to eventually make this debt disappear. The site payment options are very good and the bit that I am able to pay, well, those bits will add up to eventually have this weight off my back. PRA is very clever, I will give them that!! They claim I opened an account in March 2017. I have not I need to see proof of all purchase and merchant information fir 2017. I did not have any open line of credit in 2017. I feel this company blatantly lied on me. I have no idea what they are talking about. Show me the proof of purchases made by me in 2017 with an open line of credit and I will pay. There must be a mistake. I feel that I am a victim of a scam, fraud, and unethical business practice

I love it, because they give more than one option to pay off any debt, you do not need to call, everything can be done online, some people are afraid to call, but in this way is easy doing it online.

Very weird to say but this is the best collection agency to deal with when having a debt that is owed. I should have signed up for this years ago because of how easy it is to set up payment arrangements and how understanding they are. You decide what you can give and what works for you. Your in full control of how you pay your debt down and in full. Would reccomend all to just use their online services provided it's hassle-free.

Their website is very easy to use you can do i think everything on there. No need to really talk to an agent unless you want a human person verifying that they have processed something. Both are outstanding though, calling and online. But i like online, because it is at the time i am available (usually after 5pm EST) and it emails me any changes. There is also a chat button should you get stuck but it is really self explanatory. I love it! Collections can be scary but this agency has made me feel like a respected customer! Highly recommend. And if you are new to the web and "technology" this is by far one of the easiest websites I have ever used! Try it out!

I mean easier than writing this review and believe me, I am not one to post a review about a collections company but if you get a piece of mail from them, open it and log on to their website and like 2 min later you are set up with a payment plan. Being in a situation where you fall behind due to unexpected circumstances but you truly want to pay off the debt because it helped feed and clothe you and your family...most collectors have been demeaning and unprofessional making you feel lower than you already feel but with Portfolio Recovery it is completely different. They listened, understood and found a way for us both getting what we needed, me paying my debt off and them getting their funds. The website is easy and you can make minimum payments or more.

They make up their own payback and offer you a reduced payment plan but don't immediately reflect that in your credit report. Furthermore, the original creditors will continue to write and or call along with other debt collectors.

Having an account sent to collections is never good, but PRA was very easy to work with. I was allowed to make my own arrangements on their website and I had total control over payments. If I had questions whether it was a phone call or chat, agents were always friendly. The best thing is payments posted immediately and was reported immediately to the credit bureaus. I wish they could buy the other 2 collections I have, lol

It was very easy to set up an arrangement that fits my budget. Flexible due dates to work around your pay periods. One of the best collection agencies I have worked with on payments. Updating my review since I have needed to adjust my payment plan,and this company didn't bat an eye. I was able to make the changes needed with no hassle whatsoever. No one wants to deal with debt collectors, but I wish this one handled my other balances too.

I'm working to resolve some credit issues from my past. I've dealt with 3 collections companies similar to portfolio associates. PRA is definitely the most professional, honest, straight-forward Collections company out there. Thanks PRA... and I hope we never meet again. LOL

I have been trying to clear up certain debts that I have for a lot of years and it is difficult to come up with large sums of money at one time. Portfolio Recovery has made it very easy for me to make the effort to clear these accounts out without over stressing my budget. I've even been able to delay payments on certain months that I was unable to make one. So they make it very easy. The thing that I enjoy also is that there's no pressure, there's no threatening, there's no harsh words. They are willing to work with you.

They call everyday. I hang up everyday. This is a scam. I get a different name and "amount" that I owe them with each call. Checked my credit there is nothing on it. I've never had a credit card with the company this debt collector says I have. Do not pay these people! When they say who they are just hang up. They are just pulling a scam and I'm working with a lawyer now to set up a class action lawsuit.

This is how a collections company should operate. Simple plans for when you can afford it. No threats, no pressure, no harrassing phone calls--just choose what works for you. And you can change it any time if your circumstances change. Way to go PRA!

I was stuck with a few credit card bills from my ex-wife and was contacted by Portfolio Recovery Associates. From the very first contact they were very professional and pleasant. I was skeptical at first as the accounts were opened in my name using my SSN. The first I heard of the accounts was after they went into collection. Portfolio worked with me on a payment plan with no high pressure demands.

At first i was pretty excited to work with them. Friendly, understanding so i set up an arrangement. Then it got better. My credit went up since they took my item out of collections i was working/paying on. Now I feel foolish because I raved how this was instantly helping, the customer care etc. Then it got worse quick! They reported the item on my report they took off even though i am paying on it! My credit went down on all 3 sites because of this. I called the number on the paper they sent out its NOTHING but ads to meet singles and stuff. I had to actually google a new number to reach them. I just received another message it has hit the third credit agency today. I am super upset. My credit is actually getting worse from working with them then better!! I would of been better off not taking the chance and disputing it on my credit. They told me paying it off will help me but my has gone down drastically from these reports. Very disappointed.

Portfolio Recovery collectors are very professional. Have not come across anyone unprofessional. They will work with you but, if you do not setup a payment plan with an actual collector you will still receive calls. The website is to review balance and make payments online. It is very user friendly and short and sweet.
